History

His House Christian Fellowship was founded at Michigan State University in 1969.  Over the last 47 years, it has expanded to eleven other state universities across Michigan and impacted many ministries outside the state.

In June 2011, Gary Hawes, Director of His House Christian Fellowship, was first approached by a Traverse City minister (who is a His House alumnus) about facilitating a campus ministry at Northwestern Michigan College. Leelanau Christian Fellowship, a local body of believers, quickly became a founding partner in this endeavor. After prayer and several meetings between Gary and area ministers, college personnel, students, alumni, and others, the campus minister from Ferris State University was asked to travel weekly to minister part-time to students and college-age people at NMC.

In August 2013, Patrick Hill began as the first full-time His House campus minister at NMC. God revealed the need, His House saw the opportunity, Leelanau Christian Fellowship provided the resources, and many others confirmed the plan. The result is a full-time campus ministry at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City!

Since then, student involvement has grown and many have been impacted by the ministry at NMC. We look forward to what God has in store for the future!
